PIRELLI IS THE WORLD TYRE SECTOR LEADER IN THE DOW JONES SUSTAINABILITY INDEX FOR THE 7TH YEAR

For the seventh consecutive year, Pirelli has been nominated the world leader in the ATX Auto Components sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Europe indices, with a score of 85 points compared with a sector average of 51 points.

The results of the annual Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) review were announced today by S&P Dow Jones Indices, one of the world’s largest providers of financial market indices, and RobecoSAM, the investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing. Launched in 1999, the DJSI were the first global indices to track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

The DJSI follow a best-in-class approach, including companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. The sustainable performance evaluation comprises the 2,500 companies with the largest free-float on the  S & P Global Broad Market Index and 59 relative sectors in 25 countries.

The Corporate Sustainability Assessment provides an in-depth analysis of financially material economic, environmental and social practices, such as innovation or supply chain management, climate strategy and Stakeholder engagement and places a special focus on industry-specific risks and opportunities.

Chairman recognized for Social Responsibility

The Foreign Policy Association (FPA) has awarded Pirelli Chairman and CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera the 2013 Social Responsibility Award for his ongoing endeavors in sustainability. Under Mr. Tronchetti’s leadership, Pirelli, one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world, has become a frontrunner in corporate social responsibility.

In addition to a perfect score in the FTSE Global and European sustainability indexes, Pirelli has maintained a global sustainability leadership position for the sixth year in a row on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indexes. Pirelli’s 2012 score in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index was 89, compared with a sector average of 69. Pirelli’s “Green Performance” strategy focuses heavily on environmentally–friendly, safe, and innovative processes and products. And Pirelli serves the community by promoting road safety and human developmentthrough sports and technical training, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

Pirelli ESG Investor Briefing

13 March 2013 – 9:00 PDT – 12:00 EDT – 16:00 GMT – 17:00 CET

On 13 March 2013, Pirelli will host its ESG Investor Briefing, as part of a joint PRI-UN Global Compact initiative designed to improve company-investor communications on ESG information, following the model of traditional financial quarterly calls.

During the 1-hour webcast conference call Mr. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Chairman and CEO, and Mr. Maurizio Sala, Head of Planning & Control Department and Filippo Bettini, Head of Sustainability & Risk Governance will present the company’s ESG value drivers using a framework developed in collaboration with Global Compact LEAD companies and PRI investors, followed by a 30 minutes Q&A session for participating investors.

The Pirelli ESG Investor Briefing is a part of a series of 10-15 pilot presentations by Global Compact companies in 2012-2013 designed to test and refine the ESG Investor Briefing concept and develop a framework complementary to sustainability reporting for corporate communication with the investor community on strategic ESG risks and opportunities.
