Team for Kids: Steelcord managers enter the ward

img_sustanibility1Make the paediatrics neuromotor department of the Slatina Hospital in Romania more efficient and comfortable. That is the objective of Team for Kids, three days in a ward of 21 Pirelli managers of the Steelcord BU, today renamed Pirelli Wire Technologies, who are involved in an intense programme of restoration and restructuring activities in aid of children aged from 1 to 10 years old admitted to residential or day hospital.

Between 7-9 July, the team installed new wardrobes, painted walls, distributed toys and visibly contributed to the rebirth of the department which, until today, was in a deteriorating condition. This result, achieved due to the substantial commitment of each member of the Steelcord team, demonstrating great harmony and coordination, will be integrated with a donation from the BU of important medical equipment for children.

img_sustanibility21-150x150The project, which is part of a broader programme of cooperation begun in 2008 between the Pirelli Group and the Slatina Hospital, is also a new training method adopted by Pirelli with the support of Impact Italia, a company specialist in the development of people. The CAP – Community Action programme – methodology is, in fact, founded on the attribution of a social usefulness to team building, with the objective of fostering leadership in a more conscious and integrated way with the values of the Group.

img_sustanibility-150x150“Social responsibility is an integral part of Pirelli’s strategy throughout the world and Pirelli Wire Technologies is motivated to make a small concrete contribution to Slatina”, declared Carlo Costa, head of the Business Unit. “To our benefit, helping those who are much worse off than us permits us to relativise our point of view and to break down barriers that daily competition inevitably creates”.

“We are very pleased with the results achieved by the project as an innovative method of team building for our managers, but especially with the transformation of image and the atmosphere in the department through a mix of activities”, said Fabrizio Filippucci, director general, Cord Romania. “So we have made a useful contribution to the Slatina Hospital and the city’s entire community, to which the Pirelli Group now feels it is an integral part”.

Pielli exclusive F1 tyre supplyer from 2011

F1

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), the Teams, and Formula One’s organising body, have chosen Pirelli as their exclusive supplier, based on the specific proposals from the Italian company to guarantee technical and operational stability to the competitors.
Pirelli will provide teams with six different types of tyre for the season: four slicks, with different compounds for various types of dry surfaces, one rain tyre for heavy rain, and one intermediate tyre for damp conditions or light rain.
Pirelli is also proud to announce that it will supply for the three-year period (2011-2013) the GP2 World Series in addition to a tyre supply agreement starting from the current year for the inaugural GP3 series. Pirelli will consequently become the single supplier to all the most prestigious racing championships in the world from 2011.
The last Grand Prix victory claimed by Pirelli was the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix, with Nelson Piquet driving for Benetton.
