Sports driving is becoming increasingly electric in terms of tyres too: the Pirelli P Zero with Elect technology has been chosen for the BMW i4 M50, the first 100% electric car from the high-performance division of BMW. The zero-emission coupé joins the array of BMW M models for which Pirelli has developed custom-made tyres.

HIGH PERFORMANCE P ZERO ELECT

With the BMW i4 M50, the German car manufacturer's sports department also travels down the full-electric path for the first time. There are two engines, thanks to which the car can reach 544 HP (400 kW) with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. To handle the high performance of this vehicle, as well as to meet the requirements common to all battery-powered cars, Pirelli developed a P Zero with Elect technology, recognisable by the markings on the tyre's sidewall. Beside the star that identifies all tyres produced as original equipment for BMW models, the Elect logo indicates that the tyre is specifically for BEV and PHEV cars, which are distinguished by instantaneous torque delivery, super silent operation and increased weight due to the presence of batteries. The structure of the tyre designed by Pirelli is reinforced to support the car and deliver maximum performance even during extremely sporty use. In addition, the special high-grip tread compound is designed to provide high levels of grip, ensuring efficient and precise driving.

A LONG TRADITION OF SPORTING PERFORMANCE

In 2022, the division of BMW that devises the sportiest models with the iconic M, models which incorporate all the make's motor sports experience, celebrated its 50th anniversary. Similarly, the expertise accrued by Pirelli over more than 150 years of history and more than 110 years of racing competitions allows it to tailor-make tyres for the highest performance premium and prestige models, enhancing their power, dynamics and driving precision. Examples among the BMW M models include the SUVs from the X3 M to the X6 M, all of which are type-approved with P Zero for summer and for winter; symbols of elegance such as the 8 Series, which is also fitted with Scorpion Winter P Zero tyres; or the iconic M5 CS, on which Pirelli has 100 per cent of type-approvals with the P Zero Corsa, for both road and track use.
