IMAGINING THE FUTURE WITH... YOU

Brian’s Blog: the final.

Brian would like to say a fond farewell as his “stage” here at Pirelli comes to an end and would like to wish the next lucky “Value” all the best for the Future… take a look at his video message here...

Imagining the future with... Brian Shaw

We now have with us here in Milan the first of our Brilliant Minds who successfully made it through to a two month work experience at Pirelli!

Meet Brian Shaw, our Irish boy who was “over the moon” to be joining us here at Pirelli HQ.

Brian is a 20 year old chemistry student from Tipperary, Ireland. He is currently studying at Edinburgh university so he is used to being away from home. He loves his home town and describes it as friendly, green and rainy as it rains all the time, which we suppose is why it’s called the Emerald Isle! His Value for the Future was Innovation. Brian chose this Value as he says it is relevant not only to real life but particularly to Pirelli as we are coming up with new ideas all the time and developing existing ones to constantly improve our products. Brian is working in our Research and Development lab and is discovering that “a tyre is more than just a piece of rubber”!!!

Follow us to find out what Brian's getting up to at Pirelli and don’t forget that after him there are another 9!!! Stay tuned for the next installment…

11 Bright Students , 4 Paradigms and a Brighter Future

Francesco Morace, a top sociologist and president of the Future Concept Lab, one of the most advanced market research institutes that stands out on the international landscape, specialized in marketing issues and trends in consumption, has teamed up with Pirelli to analyze the Values for the Future we received and we have now published the final 10. Using the 4 Paradigms for the Future, arriving from a survey conducted by Accenture from the research institute, he has interpreted these values in four different categories below:

Unique and Universal

The Finger Print - Represents the uniqueness of each individual, but at the same time makes up part of the hand, our most powerful tool. The element that catalyzes interest, energy and passion is no longer the standard, reassuring approval or style, but rather the typical intensity of the unique, the original, of what is outside of any scheme. The increasing universal demand will be met by more unique offers.

Crucial and Sustainable

The Seed - Symbolizes every beginning and represents the strength and determination of decisions that can change all things. The responsibility to decide the true value of the individual and of society proves to be the key determinant to being crucial. The selectivity helps to define the playing field on which to engage in the sustainable vision of the game.

Trust and Sharing

The Flock of Birds - Represents a group in which all elements rely on each other and share a path to pursue a higher purpose. It is based on the richness of the relationship between trust and sharing. We have entered into the era of credibility that replaces visibility like a parameter judging the value.

Quick and Deep

The Shooting Star – Symbolizes something positive, the desire to seize the moment, the guiding light that leads us to achieve what we really want. The final theme is timeliness: the ability to find oneself in the right place at the right time. This is therefore a concept related to quick, the quick reaction, but at the same time deep, the ability to be deep and happy in your responses.

By doing this, we can understand more about what was actually written, the hidden meaning, if you like, behind each of our successful candidates’ values and why they were chosen! Maybe it’s time to risk a reflection that doesn’t detract from the responsibility of providing new interpretations and new paradigms for the future, as much for community as for business, happier and better equipped to deal with the future.
