Competition TYRES FOR WET CONDITIONS

Our products are designed to match specific targets defined by the car manufacturers and by the type of competition in which Pirelli is involved. They are characterized by:
- External profile and softer constructions that increase the footprint to find grip even on slippery, wet track.
- Exclusive pattern to maximize the water removal from under the tread, both in longitudinal and lateral direction, reducing the aquaplane risk.

PRESSURE

Optimal pressure for the rain tyres varies according to the depth of standing water on the track. The minimum pressure should not be less than the minimum inflation pressure suggested, in order to guarantee their safe use. An increase in pressure is required with high water levels to help adequately dissipate the water from the direction of travel.

Please always refer to the local Pirelli dealer or technical representatives to get indications on the main characteristics of the products and how to identify the correct working conditions.

We recommend to use only Dry air / Nitrogen to inflate tyres in order to avoid unexpected variations in pressure while running.

TEMPERATURE

The temperatures measured on the tread of the rain tyres can vary a lot depending on the quantity of water on the track. When the temperatures increase, is the proof that track is drying and you should consider to change for slick tyres.
Measuring the temperature on the surface of a tyre, the delta between the inside and the outside should be max 20°C.
The delta between the temperatures measured on front and rear tyres should be max 25°C.

The range of our Rain tyres can be recognized by the letter W followed by the compound chosen between the available:

H – WET HARD
S – WET SOFT

On the sidewall of our competition tyres you can read its characteristic dimension. For example:

C = Nominal section width [mm]
D = Nominal external diameter [mm]
d = Nominal diameter of the rim [in]
