Pirelli works to create the PERFECT FIT between car and tire in collaboration with the best car manufacturers.
This collaboration is carried out through dedicated technologies, processes and materials. Mixing these elements which are designed from the first phases of the project, Pirelli is able to develop marked tires custom-made for any kind of vehicles.

In collaboration with car manufacturers Pirelli creates markings, visible on the side of the tire, that clearly identify the car brand.

WHY CUSTOM-MADE TIRES

CONSUMERS:
DIFFERENT KIND OF DRIVERS
Car manufacturers are used to developing new models to answer drivers’ needs. In the same way, tires must be adapted to the specific features of each car in order to respond drivers’ needs and get the best performance in every condition.
WEIGHT
DISTRIBUTION
Cars are different. They have different weights and specific configurations. For example, different engine positions (front, rear or centre) modify the weight distribution and consequently the tire’s impact on the road and the car dynamics, requiring a dedicated optimization of the tread.
COMPATIBILITY
WITH ELECTRONIC SYSTEM
Control systems, like ABS, EPC and TPMS, are based on original equipment tire characteristics. Indeed, only marked tires can guarantee compliance with the car manufacturer’s requirements, avoiding any possible risk associated with the malfunction of electronic systems. 
LAST GENERATION SYSTEMS
Only a tire with high dimensional accuracy can guarantee the perfect function of all components in the latest vehicle generation (all-wheel drive, hybrid systems, driving aids).

The homologation process works in parallel with the OEM's vehicle development process and takes around three years.

A synergic cooperation with top car manufacturers to suit the dynamic personality of each car model. To provide the best in terms of comfort and handling or simply in terms of overall balance and performance.

PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT
FROM 2 TO 3 YEARS
The creation of a base tire with a perfect interaction between advanced design activities and unique craftsmanship capabilities. Development through several tests: handling in both dry and wet conditions, aquaplaning behavior, winter performance, rolling resistance, integrity and high speed.
