In the last few years, the car world has been directing its attention and investments towards a tire capable of ensuring performance and safety even in the event of a "flat".

The basic benefit is continued mobility in case of a loss of air pressure.

In order to achieve a level of total mobility, Pirelli has developed two different technologies: the SEAL INSIDE, a Self Sealing technology which contains an extra lining within the tire that self-seals, and the RUN FLAT, a Self Supporting Technology with a rigid sidewall within the tire.

MAIN FEATURES

TECHNOLOGY

Pirelli’s Self-Sealing tires are made up of a material that forms a sealing layer, which is placed inside the tire in the area corresponding to the tread pattern. The material tightly blocks every possible air leakage in the event of a puncture that passes through the tire, with or without an external object still present.

MATERIAL

The Seal Inside tire deals immediately with the hole and, in most cases, its fast and effective action means that the driver won’t even realize that the tire has been punctured.

APPLICATION

The Seal Inside Technology does not need dedicated rims and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) to be used safely on a vehicle; it can be used on any kind of vehicle depending on the tire size.

HOW SEAL INSIDE TIRES WORK

PHASE 1

The sealing mastic sticks to the object causing the puncture, creating a seal around the object while it remains in the tire

PHASE 2

When the object is removed from the tire, the sealing mastic is “drawn” by the object into the hole, sealing the edges of the hole
