Eccentrica: the new “restomod” with Pirelli tyres

The prototype of the first car signed Eccentrica, the new brand dedicated to "restomods", was unveiled in Milan and then exhibited at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The first example based on the Lamborghini Diablo, naturally fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres

Home Road Cars Supercars Eccentrica: the new “restomod” with Pirelli tyres

The "restomod" market has been growing for years, hand in hand with that of classic cars. The term indicates an iconic vintage or youngtimer car that is redesigned and brought into modern times. Like the Lamborghini Diablo revisited by Eccentrica. Among its features are the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, semi-slick track tyres also approved for road use, which derive from Pirelli's experience in the main world motorsport competitions. The prototype, presented at Garage 21 in Milan, was among the protagonists of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023. Next stop in America: Monterey Car Week in August, New York and Miami in the fall.

THE BIRTH OF ECCENTRICA

The project was born from the passion of Emanuel Colombini, entrepreneur and Lamborghini collector, in collaboration with professionals of the calibre of the BorromeodeSilva studio who worked on the design. Furthermore, the prototype required rigorous technical development, entrusted to an excellent team of international engineers.

Furthermorethe goal is to give an extreme driving experience, thanks to the perfect combination of ultra-light materials, advanced technical solutions and an efficient design. Eccentrica, in fact, it will be a car approved for road circulation, but also a strong temptation for those who want to get on the track. In the first virtual simulations, the performance is worthy of a true hypercar: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, top speed of 335 km/h and lateral acceleration in corners of 1.2 g.

ENGINE AND TYRES

The original 5.7-litre V12 engine has been modified by introducing technical evolutions and slightly increasing maximum power (550 HP at 7,000 rpm) and maximum torque (600 Nm at 6.500 giri/min). This intervention is combined with extensive use of composite materials capable of reducing the overall weight of the car, such as titanium and carbon fibre. The aim is thus to achieve an excellent weight/power ratio (less than 2.9 kg/hp).

The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres will help manage the exuberant power "downloaded to the ground".  These track semi-slicks, which are also approved for the road, employ advanced technologies, in particular for the compound, the tire structure and the tread pattern, making it possible to best combine the car's performance between the kerbs and on the road. For example, the tread pattern is designed to favour stability on straight lines, offering short braking distances, and on corners, increasing lateral grip.

THE DESIGN

In this case the goal was to emphasize the character and stylistic features of the original model, while maintaining its iconic nature. The BorromeodeSilva Studio has enhanced the right balance between size and performance, taking inspiration from the sporty Diablo GTR.  The bodywork of the "donor car" has been completely revised, with the exception of the wind shield which remains original, while thewhile the proportions have been taken to the extreme., The interiors have been designed as the meeting point between the minimalism of the early 90s and the artfully elevated mechanics typical of luxury watchmaking.

Authentic Few Off in 19 specimens, Eccentrica is the first product of the homonymous start-up based in San Marino, which aims to be one of the first international realities in the restomod field.
