Home Life Sustainability Pirelli joins the “Forward Faster” initiative of the UN Global Compact

Accelerating the actions of the private sector in order to achieve the 17 SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) by respecting the 2030 Agenda schedule. This is the aim that Forward Faster promised to achieve – the brand-new UN Global Compact initiative that calls international enterprises to action, in order to make them adopt concrete and measurable objectives in specific fields of action that could accelerate improvements towards the 17 SDGs.

The Forward Faster initiative is the alarm bell that invites to act more concretely and quickly, in view of the results obtained from the launch of the 17 SDGs. From the SDG Progress Report, published in the early 2023 by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, came out that only 15% of the sustainable development's objectives is on the same page as the forecast timetable, whilst 48% of the final outcomes are still weak and insufficient, and even 37% of the objectives have neither noticed any improvement nor undergone any worsening.

Pirelli is among those enterprises that from the very beginning have answered to the initiative, by focusing on two areas of action – and therefore three final aims. Regarding the Climate Action, by supporting both the reduction of the net zero science-based emissions and the management of social impacts connected to energetic transition. On the other hand, the Finance & Investment supports both financial and investment strategies that would create positive, tangible, and measurable impacts on SDGs.
