Rain Tires

Competition tires for wet conditions

Our products are developed to align with specific performance targets defined by vehicle manufacturers and the type of competition in which they participate. In 2025, a new generation of FSC® certified wet tires was introduced for GT car applications.

Key characteristics include:

  • An external profile and a softer construction designed to increase the contact area, supporting grip on slippery, wet track surfaces.
  • A dedicated tread pattern developed to help promote water evacuation in both longitudinal and lateral directions, contributing to reduced hydroplaning risk.
Dimensions
The sidewall of our competition tires displays the key dimensional information.
Example: 310/690 - 18
C / D - d
C = Nominal section width [mm]
D = Nominal overall diameter [mm]
d = Nominal rim diameter (inches)

Pressure
Recommended tire pressure for wet-weather tires can vary depending on the depth of standing water on the track. Inflation pressure should remain above the suggested minimum to support safe operation. In conditions with higher water levels, an increase in pressure may be appropriate to help promote effective water evacuation in the direction of travel. For guidance on product characteristics and identifying suitable operating conditions, please consult your local Pirelli dealer or a technical representative. To help reduce the likelihood of unexpected pressure variations during use, inflation with dry air or nitrogen is recommended.

Tread Type
The rain tire range is identified by the letter W, followed by the selected compound:
H – WET HARD
S – WET SOFT

Temperature
Tread temperatures on rain tires can vary significantly depending on the amount of water on the track. As temperatures rise, this may indicate that the track surface is drying and that a transition to slick tires could be considered. When measuring tire surface temperatures, the difference between the inner and outer sections is generally recommended to remain within 20°C (36°F). The temperature difference between the front and rear tires is typically recommended to stay within 25°C (45°F).
