Pirelli and Inter

Pirelli and Inter

The history of Inter and the history of Pirelli came together on 14 June 1995 in a typically Milanese tradition of partnership which will never be simply and solely about advertising.

On that day the club with the black and blue strip, and the Group founded in 1872 decided to start out, together, from the centre of their home city to export a winning and constructive image of Milan, and more generally, of Italy, to the world.

Inter is not just a modern, innovative brand, it has in many instances been a precursor of new trends: it was the first Italian club to create its own internet site. The "Beneamata", or well-beloved" - the name used for the club my its fans - embodies an example of loyalty, correctness and commitment which extends beyond the confines of competitive sport.

The proof of this was the creation and development of the Inter Campuses, born in Italy and then "exported" to other nations, with the aim of helping children in difficulty by giving them a start in academic and sports education.

The Campuses are one of the feathers in the cap of Massimo Moratti, owner and chairman of the club since 1995, apart from a brief period when the post was held by Giacinto Facchetti, one of the great Inter players of the past, first a champion on the pitch and then an acclaimed manager.

History and victories

F.C. International

The Football Club Internazionale Milano was born on 9 March 1908, when a group of friends, having disagreed with the choices of the other Milan club, decided to create a club that would also be open to foreign players: Internazionale.

From its earliest matches, Inter was a star of Italian football, and won its first league championship, the Scudetto in 1910. Since then, in its 100 year history, Inter has been an Italian champion 16 times, winning 2 Intercontinental Cups, 2 Champion's Cups, 3 UEFA Cups, 5 Italy Cups" and 3 Italian Supercups.

The legendary team grew in the 1960s under the chairmanship of Angelo Moratti and the technical guidance of Helenio Herrera: a formidable team, the strongest of all, and for this reason renamed "Great Inter". And today, a century after its founding, the club's supremacy in the 2007-2008 season is the start of a new chapter in the history of football, to be written with Pirelli and its proud and dedicated fans.
