Autobild Sportscars, one of Germany's most authoritative publications in the world of sports cars, has recently released its long-awaited comparison of ten all-season tyres in size 225/45 R18, fitted to a BMW 3 Series. The result? The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 emerged as the outright winner, achieving the highest rating, Vorbildlich (“exemplary”), and earning the title Testsieger (“test winner”). Since its launch, the Pirelli tyre has won 11 of the 16 independent comparative tests in which it has competed and has collected 15 podium finishes.
The tests, carried out on snow and wet surfaces as long as on dry asphalt, assessed the product's ability to adapt to the full range of conditions typical of the European climate. The Cinturato All Season SF3 impressed thanks to its ability to “position itself as the perfect middle ground and dominate all disciplines safely”, ranking first in the wet tests and the second fastest in both dry and wet handling. The Pirelli tyre stood out especially for braking safety, aquaplaning resistance and steering precision, while also offering excellent comfort and low noise.
Cinturato All Season SF3: developed virtually
The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 is the latest evolution of the all-season tyre for medium and compact cars and is designed for those who mainly drive in urban environments. Its development relied on the virtual modelling techniques of Pirelli's R&D function, enabling the simultaneous study of all variables, including different compounds, tread pattern and the distribution of physical stress on the tyre.
The new-generation compound uses advanced polymers and high-precision moulding, improving uniformity and durability. The result is low rolling resistance and reduced noise, as certified by the European label with an A and B score.
The directional tread pattern, with wide grooves and adaptive 3D sipes, changes its geometry as it wears – from linear to zigzag – ensuring consistent grip even on snow.
The award-winning All Season SF3 range
The Cinturato All Season SF3 has won several independent comparative tests, contributing – together with the results of the Scorpion All Season SF3, the all-season tyre designed for SUVs that extends the technical characteristics of the Cinturato All Season SF3 to the specific needs of high-riding vehicles – to Pirelli being recognised as the best all-season tyre manufacturer by Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) and Autobild.
These awards confirm the technical superiority of the Pirelli All Season SF3 range, thanks to innovations that have raised the performance levels required of an all-season tyre. Both models boast an A rating on the European label for wet braking and Dekra certification for excellent cumulative braking performance (the sum of dry, wet and snow braking results).
The Autobild Sportscars test highlighted how the best all-season tyres are the right choice for motorists seeking year-round safety, while the very highest summer performance remains the preserve of season-specific tyres.
