Pirelli is once again standing alongside Porsche in an event dedicated to enthusiasts of the marque. Indeed, Pirelli acted as the Technical Partner for the inaugural official tour of the Porsche Club Registro Italiano E-Motion: a 1,006-kilometre zero-emission journey featuring 73 Porsche EVs, including the Taycan and electric Macan. The tour, which started at the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta and concluded at the Hans-Peter Porsche Traumwerk museum in Bavaria, celebrated the launch of the world's first official Porsche club dedicated exclusively to electric models, founded last May. This initiative perfectly merged passion, innovation, and sustainability - core values shared by both Pirelli and Porsche. The road trip relied on various tyre fitments developed by Pirelli specifically for the Stuttgart-based manufacturer's battery-electric models. All these tyres feature the Elect marking, a package of technologies engineered for electric vehicles that can increase range by up to 10%and incorporates specific solutions to manage high torque and enhance acoustic comfort.
A journey through Porsche history
The route navigated diverse landscapes, testing both the cars and the tyres under varied driving conditions. It travelled along Austrian roads - the birthplace of the sports car legend - including Zell am See, and Gmünd, in Carinthia, where the Porsche family began its production activities, giving rise to the legendary 356 in the late 1940s. The journey concluded near Salzburg, just across the German border, at the TraumWerk - a museum aptly named the “dream workshop” - among gardens, collections of model trains and ships, and, naturally, rare and historic Porsches. It was here, in the presence of Hans-Peter Porsche (owner of the TraumWerk and son of Ferry Porsche), that the Registro Italiano E-Motion received the official certification as the world's first recognised electric Porsche club.
Bespoke tyres
Throughout the journey, the various Pirelli tyres selected by the participants ensured comfort, precision, and safety for the 42 Porsche Taycan and 31 electric Macan present in multiple versions and configurations. All Pirelli tyres developed specifically for Porsche models - spanning summer fitments, winter compounds, and all-season products - carry the distinctive "N" marking on the sidewall. These are ‘Perfect Fit' tyres, meaning they are custom-engineered for each individual model, taking into account its specific usage requirements and technical characteristics. This dedicated development process involves close collaboration between Pirelli's engineers and those at the car manufacturer. Numerous Pirelli fitments featuring Elect technology were present on the zero-emission Club Porsche tour. Primarily featured was the P Zero, the progenitor of the tyre family that has been synonymous with performance and safety since 1985. The Taycan can also be fitted with the P Zero R, designed for the most high-performance vehicles yet suitable for day-to-day driving, or the P Zero Trofeo RS, a road-legal semi-slick tyre engineered to deliver maximum performance on the track. It was with this tyre that the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach recently set the electric vehicle lap record at the Interlagos circuit. Among the all-season and winter options, the P Zero Winter developed for the Taycan.
For the electric Porsche Macan, Pirelli has also developed summer tyres (in addition to the P Zero, the P Zero Corsa), as well as all-season and winter options, such as the Scorpion Winter 2, which is designed to guarantee traction and safety even on snow and ice.
