Hello again – just a few months after the German Grand Prix in 2019, Pirelli returned to the legendary Hockenheimring. This time, however, not with the F1 teams, but with 50 enthusiasts of fiery sports cars who were looking forward to an action-packed Track Day of a special kind. And they got their money's worth at the German premiere of the P Zero Experience. Pirelli's unique series of events not only enables the participants to chase their own horsepower-strong companions over race tracks where Formula 1 aces like Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen usually fight for world championship points. At the Hockenheimring, super sports car manufacturer McLaren, one of the renowned partners of P Zero Experience, offered them the unique opportunity to thunder along the 4.574 kilometer circuit in a McLaren 720 S Spyder or a McLaren 600 LT (600 hp!) equipped with the latest Pirelli Track Adrenaline technology.
In addition in the Pirelli Lounge, the participants were able to immerse themselves in the diverse world of the tyre manufacturer - built in the proper style in a pit of the pit lane of the Hockenheimring. There, Pirelli Design presented products from exclusive cooperations, including the high-tech skis from the cooperation with Blossom and the sneakers developed jointly with Puma. The walls of the pit were decorated with pictures from the cult Pirelli calendars. Several guests were also very interested in browsing through the laid out copies of the large illustrated book Pirelli - The Calendar. 50 years and more and examined a selection of the most powerful Pirelli sports tyres. But fans of racing bikes and high-quality bicycle tyres also found what they were looking for in the Pirelli Lounge. Some participants had brought along companions, who did not want to race over the course. Especially for them, Pirelli had set a racing simulator in which they could bomb down the track virtually and experience Track Adrenaline. They also had the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the Hockenheimring, where employees of the location explained the history of the facility and the special features of the racetrack.
Also present was Montblanc, a leading manufacturer of luxurious writing instruments, watches, jewellery, leather goods and travel accessories as well as another partner of P Zero Experience. The company presented numerous products in the pit, including the special trolley collection Montblanc x Pirelli limited edition, the latest product of its cooperation with Pirelli in the luxury travel sector.
During the driving sessions, viewers felt as in a race of a GT series: sports cars from Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes and Porsche rushed by. Those who didn't already use Pirelli tyres could get advice on the potential of the P Zero and the P Zero Trofeo R on site. Some spontaneously took the opportunity to buy the tyres directly and have them fitted.
But that was not all: In two McLaren 600 LT the participants could test the new system Pirelli Track Adrenaline. The sophisticated telemetry instrument for hobby racers consists of three components: the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyre with sensors, a control unit that can be easily installed inside the vehicle, and the Track Adrenaline App, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple Store. The system monitors tyre pressure and temperature and provides real-time information and action recommendations to maximize track performance. Expert explanations were provided by product experts from the Milan-based Pirelli Cyber Team.
At the moment the Track Adrenaline control unit is available for sale at https://trackadrenaline.pirelli.com/it-it/shop for the Italian market.
A small competition complemented the Track Day. The participants could take part in a quiz and drive through a handling course where their time was measured. The winners were awarded at the end of the event.
The extremely positive feedback from the participants of the German debut of the P Zero Experience once again confirms the Pirelli strategy of offering end customers not only excellent products, but also high-class events. To be continued.
