It's fair to say that Nicola Rosin, Chief Executive Officer of famous Italian bicycle constructor Colnago, is excited about his new partnership with Pirelli. “We're talking about Pirelli, an absolute benchmark in the world of motorsport, which has now also embarked on a path of excellence and product innovation when it comes to cycling. We're ready to win together.”

From 2022, Pirelli and Colnago will equip the UAE Team Emirates World Tour squad over the next two seasons: a partnership that starts with high hopes and expectations.

A few months earlier, Pirelli announced a strengthened partnership with the Trek-Segafredo World Tour Team, another leading squad in the top UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) category. As well as supporting the World Tour UAE Team Emirates line-up, Pirelli is also backing the corresponding UAE Team ADQ women's squad. No small undertaking, given that the team includes top level athletes, such as Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar and Italy's Matteo Trentin.

The collaboration does not stop at just supplying equipment, but also includes expert input when it comes to fine-tuning the product, a philosophy that Pirelli has adopted for many years to provide cyclists with a tyre capable of responding to specific needs. The P Zero that made its debut on the 2018 World Tour, for example, was developed with the contribution of Trentin. For 2022 and 2023, the UAE Team Emirates World Tour squad will use P Zero Race TLR and P Zero Race TUB tubular tyres.

Fans who follow the World Tour races from the sofa at home but love to get in the saddle in their free time too will be pleased to know that from now on the Colnago range will be equipped with the same tyres they will see on television. Matteo Barbieri, General Manager of Pirelli Velo, said: "With this new partnership we are signing an agreement that will see us on the bikes of one of the most prestigious names in cycling. It's an honour and a privilege that will support us to create increasingly high-performance products for both professionals and amateurs.”
