GP: Turkey
Date: 15 November 2020
Winner: Lewis Hamilton - Mercedes
Him again. This was Hamilton's seventh title, his fourth in a row.
That put him level with Michael Schumacher at the top of the tree.
They both did it with two teams, Schumi with Benetton and Ferrari and Lewis with McLaren and Mercedes, both totally dominating an entire era.
Where the two men differed was in their character, style and relationship with the media.
Hamilton had processed his earlier life experience, becoming very much his own man, who could address issues of inclusion and race in a modern way, while also immersing himself in the worlds of music and fashion, thus engaging with young people.
He was also able to maintain his competitive edge over many years. His first title came in 2008 with McLaren, the team that had nurtured his early career, before switching to Mercedes following Schumacher's retirement.
In this year, Lewis was 35 years old and Turkey was his 95th Grand Prix win and he felt he still bossed F1.
However, so far title number eight has proved elusive since, in 2025, he hitched his wagon to Ferrari, the most famous of all the teams.
