Having the right suppliers is critical to any business. Pirelli boasts over 14,000 of them, distributed all over the globe, but only 9 have succeeded in receiving the coveted accolade directly assigned by P Lunga: the Supplier Award. Caring about the environment with an increasingly sustainable supply chain and lower CO2 emissions, high quality, innovation, speed and a global presence were the winning requirements of this year's edition.

“The last two years have clearly shown that the role of suppliers is essential to the success of a company's business. Sharing an approach focused on quality, speed, transparency, commitment to continuous and sustainable innovation has allowed us to stay competitive even at this particular time” - commented Marco Tronchetti Provera, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Pirelli - “This is the reason why we wanted to reward companies who share these values with Pirelli, becoming genuine partners of the brand”.

Nine suppliers have received this acknowledgement for distinguishing themselves in the last year: Thai Eastern Group Holdings Co (Thailand), Glanzstoff Sicrem (Italy); Synthos (Poland), Asahi Kasei Corporation (Japan); Quechen Silicon Chemical (China), Himile Science & Technology Co. (China), DSV Solutions (Italy), Deloitte Consulting (Italy) and Grupo Drivers (Mexico).

PIRELLI'S STRATEGY

“Pirelli strives for sustainable competitiveness through the excellence of its value chain and drive to innovation. In keeping with this approach, we expect our entire supply base will play a fundamental role in the future, embracing our objectives and strengthening their partnership with us” commented Andrea Maganzani, CPO of Pirelli.

The rise in the use of innovative materials derived from renewable or recycled sources is the path that Pirelli wishes to follow in order to achieve the objectives of the Group's industrial plan, which envisages: the use of more than 40% renewable materials for specific product lines, of more than 3% recycled materials and 40% less use of fossil-derived materials by 2025. More than 60% of renewable materials, more than 7% of recycled materials and 30% of fossil-derived materials are expected to be used by 2030.

Another key element for the sustainability of Pirelli's supply chain is the decarbonisation process which Pirelli's partners are called upon to contribute towards, with a view to reducing CO2 emissions by 9% in 2025 compared to 2018. A focus on respecting human rights and occupational rights remains paramount too.
