At the AutoTech Breakthrough Awards 2025,Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre received the prestigious recognition of “Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Innovation of the Year”, confirming its status as the most innovative technology in the tyre sector. “The Cyber™ Tyre is a fundamental system for the future of smart mobility, which encompasses autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and the digitalisation of infrastructure. By integrating intelligence directly into the tyre, the Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre makes transport systems safer, as well as more sustainable and data-driven”, reads the award rationale, promoted by the Tech Breakthrough intelligence platform, which selects the most innovative companies and services in the automotive technology sector.
The Cyber™ Tyre is the first system in the world capable of collecting data directly from the tyre, processing it with Pirelli's proprietary software and algorithms, and transmitting it in real-time to the vehicle's electronics. This allows for improvements in driving dynamics, safety, and interaction with digital infrastructure.
“This acknowledgement underscores the value of the Cyber™ Tyre, which gives the tyre a new role in the mobility revolution currently under way. In Software-Defined Vehicles, the availability of accurate, real-time data is essential: for the first time, our technology allows detailed information on the tyre's status and road surface conditions to be transmitted to the vehicle's electronics, improving safety, performance, and efficiency. The system has already been adopted on high-end vehicles, with the aim of extending its application to an increasingly wider audience and enabling various functionalities with other systems through V2X connectivity”, stated Piero Misani, CTO of Pirelli.

Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre: how it works and main applications
Thanks to sensors positioned inside the tread, the Cyber™ Tyre detects parameters such as pressure, temperature, tread depth, and load. This data, processed by Pirelli algorithms, is transmitted to a control unit that optimises the vehicle's electronic systems, such as ESP, ABS and traction control, significantly improving safety and the driving experience. With the collaboration of Bosch Engineering, the system is fully integrated into the vehicle's electronic architecture.
In addition to in-car functionalities, the Cyber™ Tyre enables V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) communication, contributing to the development of smart roads and smart cities, where the collected data aids urban mobility planning and maintenance. The diverse V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) connectivity potentials can enable warning functions for vehicles and drivers about road conditions in real-time, interact with traffic lights and signage, and optimise public transport and fleet management, offering fundamental support for the development of autonomous driving.
The Cyber™ Tyre technology is already on the market, adopted by some very high-end models, and is under development on various premium and prestige platforms. Recently, Aston Martin and Pirelli announced an agreement for the system's integration into the English luxury brand's future models.
