The Pirelli Group has been confirmed for the seventh consecutive year in the FTSE4Good index (FTSE Global and FTSE4Good Europe index: Financial Times stock exchange indexes for socially responsible investing). There were 33 new entry companies since September 21, however no new companies from the Automobiles and Parts sector were admitted.Nevertheless, fifteen companies were excluded from the index as they violated the admission criteria regarding environmental standards, including climate standards, human rights standards, worker rights standards and standards on political anti-corruption, and were also excluded for taking part in the weapons industry.
The ten Italian companies remained unaltered: Pirelli & Co, Snam Rete Gas, Telecom Italia, Eni, A2A, Banca Intesa Sanpaolo, Banca Monte Paschi di Siena, Fondiaria-SAI, Terna and UniCredito Italiano.
Despite a profit-taking in the Auto & Parts sector (European Reference Index -1.6%), Pirelli reported an increase of 4.9% for week 14-18 of September, up to €0.378 (+6.5 percentage points compared to the European sector). Shares benefited from the restructuring plan announcement that will entail a significant downsizing of corporate structures, leading to minimum savings of 10 million euros per year, expected to take place from 2010.During this week, in consideration of lower corporate costs, six brokerage firms raised their expectations for Pirelli & C, approximately by € 5.5 cents, (Cheuvreux from €0.33 to €0.43, Equita from €0.33 to €0.37, Akros from €0.40 to €0.42, Banca Imi Nav from €0.43 to €0.47, Centrobanca from €0.37 to €0.43, Goldman Sachs from €0.32 to €0.38).

Pirelli’s Cinturato family tyres (recognised by major European certifying institutions as the most ecological and safest tyre range available in the market) and the P Zero family (which is proven to be the preferred for high performance sports cars) have become the most popular tyres among the stands of the most prestigious automobile companies, fitted on the most awaited models of the 63rd Frankfurt International Motor Show. The two supercars of the Frankfurt International Motor Show, the new Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4 12C, were both displayed with P Zero tyres, the most ultra high performance tyres of the entire range.
The flagship models of the Maserati racing (Quattroporte, Granturismo and Grancabrio ) were also fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres, as well as the Lamborghini Murcielago, Gallardo and Gallardo Spider; Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Lotus Evora, Bentley CTC, SuperSport, GT Speed, and the new Mulsanne.
Furthermore, the Swedish Volvo and Saab displayed in the Motor Show were fitted with P Zero Rosso tyres: VolvoXC 60, Volvo S80 Executive and Saab 9-3X have chosen the PZero Ultra High Performance version, which combines sport with an extraordinary acoustic comfort thanks to their new tread design. Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tyres have also made their appearance in the International Motor Show; they will be fitted on the Volvo XC 70 and XC 60”R design”. Green performance and safety are the two keywords for modern motor vehicles, where Cinturato P6 and P7 are the leading ranges, recognised as the best tyres by Dekra (a major independent certifying institution of the car industry) and by TÜV (the German certifying institution), for their low environmental impact and safety. Moreover, Cinturato P7 has been chosen as original equipment by Audi (A4, A4 Allroad, A5), Mercedes (E Class, S Class), AlfaRomeo (the new 147), BMW (X1, Series 1, Series 3) and Volvo (S80, V70), and for the latest and most prestigious models of class E, some of which are also exhibited in the Frankfurt International Motor Show.
