What does Quality mean at Pirelli Tyres?

The Quality function at Pirelli Tyres ensures adequate quality for company products and processes, handling resolution of any problems.
It ensures an adequate quality standardfor materials acquired in collaboration with R&D, Operations and Purchasing, and checks on the implementation and dissemination of the TQS (Total Quality System).
The Quality function also handles the process for certification of applicable international standards and ensures know-how for products on the market. It performs periodic quantitative analyses and takes corrective measures to resolve problems that arise.

QUALITY DIRECTOR
Ensures the definition, implementation and dissemination of the Quality System for Tyres Sector ensuring its application and proper functioning. Ensures the acquisition of required recognition and certifications (Sector TQS). Responsible for the handling of complaints, training and product evaluation methodologies.

TOTAL QUALITY SYSTEM MANAGER
Co-ordinates any activities aimed at obtaining Quality Certification as European and worldwide standards. Collaborates with Sector Functions, Affiliates and Plants of any area under his/her responsibility. Guarantees that the Quality systems is in compliance with local legislation. Plans and verifies realization of actions of improvement towards quality standards.

QUALITY BUSINESS UNIT/PLANT MANAGER
Supervises the factory quality system in his charge and issues instructions for adaptation of the quality manual to the context of the factory. Verifies and authorizes the operational instructions issued within the factory. Plans and manages inspections; promotes and verifies the implementation of preventive/corrective actions. Manages non-compliance in products-processes and systems. Manages relations with certification organizations and bodies related to his area of competence. Guarantees updating of product specifications in agreement with fixed Sector specifics. Manages industrialization of technologist plant needed and assures support for the Sector function during new product industrialization phases.

QUALITY PRODUCT/MATERIAL ASSURANCE MANAGER
Controls following the purchase order and/or process-product specific materials or products, and writes assurance report. Records and updates related to quality evaluation of products. Gives suggestions to improve quality activities.
