Burton upon Trent, February 13, 2013 – Connor McCloskey’s Pirelli-equipped Subaru Impreza WRC helped the former Northern Ireland rally champion clinch the victory on the recent Team GMF Wyedean Forest Rally.

Based in the Forest of Dean, Wyedean Forest Rally marked the opening round of the 2013 British Trial and Rally Drivers Association Rally Series (BTRDA). Using the Forest of Dean and Lower Wye Valley in Gloucestershire, this year’s event offered 44 miles of exciting competition and attracted a bumper number of entries.

Co-driven by Francis Regan, Wyedean debutant McCloskey arrived at the event finish seven seconds clear of the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO9 of David Wright. Also running on a mix of Pirelli K6 and KM6 tyres was Luke Francis, who won a hotly-contested Group N battle in his Lancer EVO9.

“It feels fantastic to have won the Wyedean, especially since this was my first time competing on a forest rally for more than a year. I’d like to thank Pirelli for their BTRDA support,” said rally winner McCloskey.

“What a fantastic start to the year,” explained Pirelli UK Tyre Motorsport Operations Manager, Matthew Corby.

“To take a win in the overall classifications and to top the Group N leaderboard is testament to both the reliability and durability of our Pirelli K6 and KM6 gravel tyres. With such a high entry list, we always knew that the competition was going to be tough but both McCloskey and Francis shone and were able to push their Pirelli tyres to the limit in order to take the victory. It marks an exciting start to the British rally season and we look forward to what is expected to be another successful year of motorsport for Pirelli ahead,” Corby concluded.
