All tires have different numbers on the sidewall which correspond to: section width, aspect ratio, construction code, rim diameter, load index and speed code.

How to read a tire sidewall

The three-digit number tells you how wide your tire is, in millimeters.

The aspect ratio tells you how tall the sidewall of your tire is. Multiply the width of the tire by the aspect ratio percentage and you will get the height in millimeters (245mm x .35 = 85.75mm).

The two-digit number tells you the diameter of the rims that the tire is meant to be mounted on, in inches.

The tire load index states how much weight a tire is engineered to handle.
