The Dow Jones Indexes
Pirelli was selected for the first time in the
Dow Jones Sustainability Index STOXX (DJSI STOXX) in 2002 and has been included in the
Dow Jones Sustainability World index for a number of years now.
In January 2009 Pirelli - for the second year running - was named "World Sustainability Leader" of the Autoparts and Tyres Sector and
Gold Class Company by
Sustainabile Asset Management Group (SAM). This recognition was published in the prestigious
Sustainability Yearbook 2008, which is published by SAM in collaboration with
PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The Yearbook is the most complete and authoritative global benchmarking tool for sustainable finance specialists. Only 15% of the companies listed in 57 business sectors are included, following assessment by SAM of more than one thousand multinational companies.
Launched in 1999, the
Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. Based on the cooperation of Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited, and the
Sustainable Asset Management Group -SAM Group, they provide the financial community with reliable and objective benchmarks that can be used, in particular, to manage sustainability portfolios.
The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) covers the world's best companies in terms of sustainability performance (essentially the top 10% of the biggest 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones World Index) based on economic, environmental and social criteria.
As a benchmark for European sustainability investments, the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) covers the leading 20% in terms of sustainability of the companies in the Dow Jones STOXX SM 600 Index.
