Establishment of an Equal Opportunities Steering Committee and appointment of the Group Equal Opportunities Manager. A Group Equal Opportunities Manager was also appointed in 2005 to pursue greater organizational balance, to lead the Projects deployment by the Group Affiliates, and to monitor the evolution of Equal Opportunities in the Affiliates. The aforementioned manager has the backing of an Equal Opportunities Steering Committee, which is responsible for the guidance and supervision of these company plans and which was established in 2005 at top managers level. The Organizational structure finally includes the Countries Equal Opportunities Managers, who are responsible for guiding and monitoring developments in terms of equal opportunity at the local level. The "Group Equal Opportunities Project" was set up in 2005, in order to guarantee equal opportunities for professional development in all company functions and environments, helping the company as a whole to manage the issue of "Diversities" in an advanced and effective way as it strives to achieve its business goals. The Project includes a series of positive initiatives with specific targets for the enhancement and development of diversity in the area of human resources managements, as well as initiatives in support of a better work-life balance. |

In the wake of the Tsunami tragedy that struck Asian countries at the end of 2004, the Company together with its employees have financed the reconstruction of 2 schools, one in the capital Banda Aceh - project for 1000 children - and one in the province of Aceh Besar - for 200 children -, as stipulated in the agreement jointly signed by Pirelli and the Indonesian authorities on 28th April 2005 |
![]() | The Pirelli Group has set up a Governance systems in line with best practices in Italy and beyond. Of particular note in this regard is the recent effort to nominate independent and minority representatives in the company's Board of Directors. As of 12 March 2007, independent directors represent over fifty per cent of the total (ten out of nineteen, four of which are nominated by the 'minorities'). In order to take full advantage of the role played by independent directors, the Group's Board of Directors starting from November 2005 decided to introduce the role of Lead Independent Director, who acts as a point of reference and coordination for all independent directors. |
