Culture Commitment
Pirelli support many cultural initiatives with leading international organisations. Its commitment to culture is global, but also deeply rooted in the urban environment of Milan.
Pirelli has contributed to the opening of a wing dedicated to Etruscan Art at the Louvre in Paris, and to the restoration of the
Italian Gardens at London's
Victoria and Albert Museum.
In "eternal" Rome, it supported and financed the complete restoration of the
Galleria Capitolina, while in Milan it participated in the restoration of 16th century Venetian paintings with the
Pinacoteca di Brera. Again in Milan, the Group offered its support to the restoration of the
Poldi Pezzoli museum.
There are other prestigious initiatives in Pirelli's extensive cultural programme. The group has created a strategic partnership with the Milan Triennale to bridge project culture and business culture, supported the
Teatro alla Scala Foundation, the most prestigious theatre in Italy, and the Museo del teatro, also contributing to the organisation of cultural events by cooperating with the
Teatro Franco Parenti and the
Fondazione Pierlombardo.
For Pirelli, creating culture also means a strong commitment to conserving the environmental heritage of Italy. The group is a member of the FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, and is involved in projects to restore and conserve monuments, and in the organisation of courses on the history of art. Pirelli pays particular attention to the culture of technology, with the creation of
Pirelli INTERNETional Award, the new prize dedicated to the communication of scientific culture, organised entirely via the internet.
