Culture Commitment

As a global company active in many countries and on different levels, while remaining deeply rooted in the urban environment of Milan, Pirelli supports many international cultural initiatives , associating its name to those of the leading institutions throughout the world.

Among the most important examples: the opening of the wing dedicated to Etruscan art at the Louvre in Paris, and the restructuring of the Italian Gardens at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Pirelli is also the former supporter of the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala, as well as the theatre museum; and contributes to the organization for various events. 

Pirelli's most recent initiatives in the world of art include the complete restoration of the Galleria Capitolina in Rome, the restoration of important sixteenth century Venetian paintings, (agreement signed with the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan), and the institutional support for the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan.

Along with these activities, Pirelli also offers continuous support to other forms of art, above all, theatre, cooperating in particular with the Teatro Franco Parenti and the Fondazione Pierlombardo.
 
Creating culture also signifies working to conserve the environmental heritage of the country. Pirelli is member of the FAI-Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano , committing itself to various projects for the restoration and conservation of monuments, and to the organization of courses in history of art.

Last but not least, it's important to underline Pirelli's attention to technological culture, exemplified by the creation of the Pirelli INTERNETional Award , the first prize dedicated to the communication of scientific culture conducted entirely via the Web.
