Director of Pirelli & C. S.p.A. since April 28, 2005.Born in Rome in 1934.Since 1981 he has been Regular Professor at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Director of the "Rivista del diritto commerciale e del diritto generale delle obbligazioni" (Review of commercial law and general law on bonds). He is co-director of "Concorrenza e Mercato" (Competition and Market), member of the management committee of the "Rivista delle societa" (Companies Review). He covered the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco di Sicilia from 1994 to 1997; from 1995 to 1997 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Finnat-Euramerica SIM S.p.A.; from 1998 to 1999 he was Chairman of Telecom Italia S.p.A. and of Tim S.p.A.; member of the Board of Auditors of ENI S.p.A. from 1992 to 1995; from 2003 to 2007 he was member of the Board of Directors of Nomisma S.p.A.; from 2001 to 2007 he was member of the Board of Directors of Mediobanca S.p.A., Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Re Italia S.p.A. from 1996 to June 2006, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alitalia S.p.A. from February to July 2007, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca di Roma S.p.A. from 2002 to 2007. Currently he is Chairman of Unidroit; and since 2003 he has been member of the Board of Directors of ESI S.p.A., of the Board of Directors of RCS MediaGroup S.p.A. since April 2006, Chairman of Telecom Italia Media S.p.A. and member of the Board of Director of Telecom Italia S.p.A. since April 2008 and Deputy Chairman of Unicredito Italiano S.p.A. since August 2007. He holds the requirements provided by the Corporate Governance Code (Borsa Italiana) to be qualified as independent. |
