Born in Rome in 1937.
He graduated in Industrial and Electro technical Engineering at the University of Rome in July 1961. He has been Regular Professor of "Telegraphic and Telephonic Commutation" at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and of "Telecommunication Systems" at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". From the Accademic year 1991/92 as of today he has been in charge of the chair of "Telecommunication networks" at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".
He has conducted for over 30 years applied research, and he has been consultant in the manufacturing business. He has been the author of over 100 scientific works in the field of
telecommunications.
He has been Director of the Project on "Telecommunications" of the National Board of Research and Chairman of the Technical Superior Board of Post and Telecommunications.
From 1994 Scientific Director of CoRiTel on Telecommunications, Consortium of Research on
Telecommunications. He is conducting activity of technical advice for national and international entities and he has been for many years technical expert of MURST (presently MIUR). He has participated, as an expert of the Italian administration to working groups and to national and international committees for the regulatory aspects of the telecommunication field. He has been Chairman of CNR Group, of the "Reti" Commission of the National Board on Research, advisor of the Italian Association of Telecommunication engineer (AIIT) and of the Italian electro technical and electronic Association (AEI), as well as member of CORI /European Research Programs of MURST. Italian representative in ACTS (Advance Communications Technologies and Servicies) and in TCT (Technical Committee on Telecommunications) by designation of MURST. He has been member of the "Cabina di Regia" for the ICT area appointed by MIUR for the national participation to the VI Program of the European Community and he was member of the Technical secretary's office (MIUR) for the planning of the research activity as well as a member of the Panel 15a. of CIVR (Committee for the evaluation on research).
He holds the requirements contempleted by the Code of Conduct issued by the Committee
for the Corporate Governance of Listed Companies to be qualified as indipendent.
