Born in Conselice (RA) in 1953.

In 1980 he joins the Financial Office of Assicurazioni Generali in Bruxelles; in 1981 he is nominated Financial Director at the New York Branch; in 1988 he is called to guide the Foreign Investment Division with the Holding Company located in Trieste.
In 1989 he becomes Vice Director with responsibilities over the Italian and foreign market. In 1992 he becomes responsible of the Administrative Office; in 1993 he becomes responsible for the coordination of corporate assets at the Administration and finance division.

In 1995 he is appointed Director and responsible for the administration and finance division. In 1996 he becomes Vice General Manager with responsibilities ad interim of the Administration and Finance Division. In 1998 he becomes General Manager. In 2001 he is appointed Managing  Director.

Presently he holds the following positions: Chairman of the Board of Directors of: Generali Finances S.A., Banca Generali, Generali Properties S.p.A. and Generali Investments S.p.A.
SGR; Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca della Svizzera Italiana S.A.; member of the Board of Directors of Participatie Maatschappij Graafscap Holland N.V., Transocean Holdinf Corporation, Generali France Holding, Generali Espana Holding de Entidades de  Seguros, INA Assitalia S.p.A.; Alleanza Assicurazioni S.p.A., Generali Property Investments Sgr, Toro Assicurazioni S.p.A., President of Supervisory Board di Generali Investments S.p.A.

Member of the Supervisory Board of Participatie Maatschappij Transhol B.V., member of Management Committee of Intesa San Paolo; member of Advisory Board of  SDA Bocconi School of Management; member of the Directive Board of Assonime and member of the  Executive Committee of ANIA.
