Despite not actually having its own booth, Pirelli still managed to be one of the stars of the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Indeed, around two thirds of the prestige vehicles of all enthusiasts’ dreams and one third of the top-of-the-range or premium vehicles at the show were fitted with tyres having their own mark. These special marked tyres were developed by Pirelli in partnership with car makers and have a mark on the sidewall providing unmistakable confirmation that it is specifically designed for one of its particular models.

The most recent launches by Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes and Porsche exhibited at the Paris Motor Show were fitted with marked Pirelli tyres. For example, the new Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Aventador came to the show with Pirelli tyres bearing a logo. Another making its debut was the McLaren P1 prototype with special “MC” mark next to the Pirelli logo on the P Zero sidewall. Also catching the eye among the most recent offshoot versions of the P Zero are those for the McLaren MP4-12C or of size 275/35 ZR21 (103Y) approved for the new Bentley Continental.

P Zero is not the only star of this Pirelli strategy: the Cinturato P7 custom series are also enjoying great success. For example, the first high-performance green tyre for medium/large-engined vehicles in its Blue version was unveiled at the show as the original equipment fitment for the new Volkswagen Golf VII. Cinturato P7 Blue was also the first* to obtain a European label double class “A” and has already been developed in a marked version for the new Golf Blumotion in size 225/45R17 91W.
