Second consecutive podium sweep por Scorpion MX at Russian Grand Prix
Pirelli riders selecting MidSoft 32 monopolise the MX1 and MX2 rostrums

After a series of races marked by muddy conditions the FIM Motocross World Championship finally found some sunshine and Pirelli were able to lay down the law in both categories of the series in Russia for round eleven of sixteen.

A mixture between sand and hard-pack terrain was found at the new Semigorje circuit situated some 400km east of Moscow. The Scorpion MX MidSoft 32 was the ideal choice in terms of providing the perfect feeling of traction and grip and helped towards another dominant display and haul of results.

The Grand Prix of Russia was attended by a massive 45.000 spectators, all of whom were able to watch world champion Antonio Cairoli register his fourth double victory of the season and extend his advantage in the MX2 standings to 20 points over Clement Desalle. The works Suzuki rider made a mistake in the closing stages of the second moto and had to settle for the runner-up position to the KTM man both in the race and for the Grand Prix. The Belgian ranked ahead of fellow Pirelli runners Ken De Dycker and Christophe Pourcel.

KTM also ruled in MX2 where series leader Jeffrey Herlings was unbeatable in both races. A great performance was unveiled by title rival Tommy Searle, who fought back from 20th place at the start of the first moto (and last in the second after a second corner tumble) to reach 3rd and 2nd positions respectively. Decent outings were also enjoyed by Jeremy Van Horebeek and Joel Roelants to fill 3rd and 4th in the MX2 final classification.

The FIM Motocross World Championship will now pause for a week before the Grand Prix of Czech Republic takes place on August 5th at Loket.
