Pirelli is the exclusive tyre supplier to the GP2 Series, as part of a three-year agreement from 2011 to 2013.
Launched in 2005, the GP2 Series is a one-make single-seater championship which has de facto become the acknowledged stepping stone to Formula One, aiming to prepare young drivers who aspire to climb their way up to the highest level of motorsport.
Pirelli supplies the GP2 Series with two different types of tyre designed for different types of use: the first type has been designed for dry surfaces, while the second is for wet surfaces. The sizes are 245/660–13 at the front and 325/660-13 at the rear.
This year GP2 tyres are all new as regards compound and construction, designed to mirror the characteristics of Formula One tyres. Slick tyres are available in four different compounds: supersoft (P Zero Red), soft (P Zero Yellow), medium (P Zero White) and hard (P Zero Orange), while the wet tyre is available in one compound only and is characterized by the blue marking.
The 2013 season will again see twenty-six drivers competing at the wheel of identical Pirelli-fitted Dallara cars, powered by a V8 Renault engine.
Every car will have five sets of slick tyres and three sets of wet-weather tyres at its disposal for the race weekend. The total of five sets of dry tyres comprises three sets of harder compound and two sets of softer compound.
The 2013 calendar is made up of 11 rounds, seven of which will be in Europe and two in the Far East.

Pirelli is the exclusive tyre supplier to the GP3 Series: a one-make single-seater championship launched in 2010 as a feeder series for the GP2 Series.
Designed to nurture young driving talent for GP2, the GP3 Series follows the same principles: identical car with single chassis, engine and tyre provider. Technical regulations are strict and tightly controlled to ensure a level playing field. Racing with identical cars and set ups, it is the driver’s ability and the engineering prowess of the competing teams that make the difference.
This year, the series has a brand new 400 horsepower car that is designed to bring it closer to GP2 and brand new tyres.
All the tyre compounds are new for the 2013 GP3 Series, after a comprehensive programme of testing over the winter. The new car is expected to be faster than its predecessor, requiring an even more performance-orientated tyre.
Pirelli supplies the GP3 Series with three types of P Zero slick tyre (hard, medium and soft) – one type of which is nominated for each race weekend – and one pattern of wet weather tyre. Each car has three sets of dry tyres and two sets of wets per weekend, if needed, at its disposal.
The tyre sizes are 230/570-13 at the front and 290/590-13 at the rear.
The 2013 GP3 calendar is made up of eight rounds taking place over the same race weekends of the Formula One Grand Prix, starting with the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona in May and finishing with the Grand Prix at Abu Dhabi in November.
