Whether competing with factory teams at the highest level, or with club drivers on their local circuits, Pirelli can be found at all types of racing venues around the world. In recent years Pirelli has become best known for its activities in sports and gt categories where, in addition to winning many different championships, there has been a very direct technology transfer between P ZERO racing tyres and P Zero road tyres.
Since 2010 Pirelli has been the exclusive supplier of the GP3 class, the world championship for single-seaters created on Dallara chassis and Renault engines. This is a Series intended to give young drivers a chance to develop their driving skills and then move onto GP2, involving 30 drivers of 17 different nationalities, aged between 17 and 24 years. Each event is run over two races characterized by the starting grid with inverted orders.
For this season Pirelli has developed specific slick and rain tyres, requiring a dedicated and specifically designed production process due to the particular tyre structure of the products used in this Series.
Also the highly aromatic oil free compounds used - three different versions for the slick, one for the rain – are new and have been developed specifically for GP3 tyres.
Sizes are: 230/570-13 front and 290/590-13 rear.
Each driver will have three sets of slicks and 2 sets of wets at his disposal for each event.
