Within the span of a month, Pirelli Tire has announced two new additions to its motorsport sponsorship roster in North America: the North American Road Racing Association (NARRA) and the Challenge Club Racing Series. “Pirelli continues to expand its role as a sports car road racing leader in North America,” commented Rafael Navarro, Vice-President of Communications, Media Relations and Motorsports for Pirelli Tire North America. “We’re looking forward to supporting both programs to the fullest extent and furthering our commitment to growth and emphasizing that we are the tire manufacturer most involved in motorsport at both national and international levels all over the world.”
Under the NARRA partnership, Pirelli will support the SRT Viper Cup Series and the US GT Championship. This announcement comes as the first Pirelli-shod Vipers are arriving in SRT dealer showrooms throughout the United States. The new SRT Viper will come equipped with Pirelli P Zero and P Zero Corsa UHP radials, the perfect blend of high performance and engineering expertise. “Pirelli and Viper share a high performance heritage that will now be transferred directly to the street on every 2013 Viper that rolls out of a dealership,” said Tom Gravalos, Vice-President of Original Equipment and Marketing for Pirelli Tire North America. “The P Zero and P Zero Corsa showcase technological advancements that makes Pirelli the ideal choice for the latest Viper sports cars.”
Vipers aside, Pirelli will also be furthering its engagement with Ferrari enthusiasts through a sponsorship of the Challenge Club Racing Series for the 2013 season. This builds upon Pirelli’s long-standing relationship with the Grand-AM Ferrari Challenge Series that began its 2013 season at the Rolex 24 at Doytona last month. The Challenge Club Racing Series consists of one of the largest groups of Ferrari racing privateers in the United States. Ferrari owners are given the opportunity to enjoy some of the best circuits while sharing both competition and social aspects of the series with fellow enthusiasts. Challenge Club Racing will be serviced by Pirelli Motorsport tire dealer Bob Woodman Tire, and will open its season with Pirelli in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) 12 Hours of Sebring event.
