After decades of working together, Pirelli and Lamborghini have announced the latest development in their technical partnership: made-to-measure P Zero tires for the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700–4 Roadster that was first announced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Consistent with Pirelli’s P Zero range of Ultra High Performance tires, these bespoke P Zero tires offer the best stability, comfort and handling for a vehicle capable of accelerating from 0–100kph in just three seconds, with maximum speeds of up to 350kph.

Pirelli’s engineers particularly concentrated on the rolling circumference of the tires; in order to best respond to the needs of Lamborghini’s four-wheel drive system, structures built with special materials and firmer compounds were used. This contains the deformation of the tire and maintains the high performance and rolling characterizes in all usage conditions. The new P Zero tires have been designed to provide maximum grip and react quickly to changing speeds throughout the rev range, in order to effectively transmit all the car’s power onto the ground.

The tires will be produced at Pirelli’s state of the art facility in Settimo Torinese, near Turin which utilizes Pirelli’s unique “Next MIRS” technology. This system is the latest evolution of Pirelli’s fully robotized tire production process. The compounds are precisely formulated through Pirelli’s Continuous Compound Mixing (CCM) system, the most advanced compound mixing process in existence at the moment.
