Pagani Zonda R established a new record on the Nordschleife circuit of the Nürburgring on Wednesday, June 30 by covering the 20.83km course in 6:47, with Pirelli P Zero Slick tires (measuring 265/645-19TL and 325/705-20TL).
Pagani’s Zonda R is a hand-built carbon-titanium and carbon-fiber machine with 750 horsepower and is powered by a 6.0 liter AMG sourced V-12 engine. The record was possible by the P Zero Slick tires courtesy of Pirelli’s Motorsport Racing production. The Pirellis ensured excellent grip on the asphalt and gave the car the ability to transfer all the power of the car onto the ground. Designed exclusively by Pirelli for the Modena-built supercar, the P Zero Slick tires were manufactured in Milan on the new-generation line of MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System). The innovative robotized production process patented by Pirelli covers the entire manufacturing cycle from compounds to the finished product, without interruptions or energy wasted. The MIRS process is representative of Pirelli’s excellence in technology, and focuses on production of Ultra-High-Performance and Motorsport tires.
Pirelli Tire North America designs, develops, manufactures and markets tires for passenger vehicles in both the original equipment and replacement markets as well as markets and distributes tires for motorcycles and motorsports. Located in Rome, Georgia, Pirelli’s Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) employs state-of-the-art technology to manufacture tires for both export and domestic markets.
