Pirelli Tires
ROME, Ga., Dec. 21, 2005 When in early 2004 the
Pirelli-shod Dodge Ram SRT-10 entered the Guinness Book of World
Records as the Worlds Fastest Production Pickup
Truck with a new speed record of 154.587mph, it seemed to
spark a new interest in muscle trucks not seen since the heyday of
the legendary Ford Broncos.
Its a classic concept, mounting a tuned up V8 in an
otherwise utilitarian 4×4, and the enthusiast interest has not
dimmed even with higher gas prices. What is new is that these
trucks can really put their power down on the road thanks
to the new kid on the block, Pirelli Scorpion tires.
The Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico used on the Dodge was born originally
to tame the now legendary Lamborghini LM002, the fire breathing,
Miura-engined, off-road supercar much favored by desert princes and
often referred to as the Rambo Lambo. That Scorpion
Zero went on to create its own legend, interesting the truck
enthusiast with a growing range of ever larger widths and
diameters, culminating in the recently launched giant,
325/35R28.
The latest big success of the muscle truck genre is the recently
launched Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson model; here again the exclusive
tire fitment is the Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico, this time in size
275/45R22. All the trucks are black, just like the tires, though
the small yellow scorpion on the sidewall recalls that Pirelli
performance is always available.
For 2006 Ford will be introducing new large SUVs, the
eagerly awaited Expedition and Navigator models. Again Pirelli
Scorpion tires are featured, this time the STR range, and for sure
there will be a top model on 22-inch Pirellis.
Pirelli Tire North America specializes in the manufacture and
marketing of highperformance car, light truck and motorcycle tires
and currently has four of its highly advanced MIRS (Modular
Integrated Robotized System) modules in operation in a new factory
in Rome, Georgia, to better serve the American OEM and Replacement
markets.
