Pirelli wins first pro rally in the U.S. with wild west win
Pirelli has secured its first win in the U.S. Pro Rally
Championship with a first place finish by factory-backed Noel
Lawler Motorsports. Driver Noel Lawler and co-driver Charlie
Bradley competed in their Hyundai Tiburon in the Wild West Pro
Rally June 18-19 in Shelton, WA.
Pirelli Rally tires have been extremely successful in the World
Rally Championship, winning three straight championships with the
Subaru 555 Prodrive Impreza Team. Pirelli has won a total of 17
World Rally championships and 108 World Rallies.
” The Pirelli tires were incredible” , said Lawler, ” they cornered
like the edge of a ski.” The Washington logging roads are
notoriously rough and rocky, but the Pirelli KM40s gave the
team a huge advantage, according to Lawler. ” The wider block
pattern allows the small rocks on the road to get kicked out which
put more rubber on the road surface. This gives us better grip,
better braking and better cornering.”
The rally action in Washington will be broadcast on Speedvision
August 23 and August 24.
Pirelli Tire North America is headquartered in New Haven,
Connecticut and is a subsidiary of Pirelli SpA, a worldwide leader
in tire products and power and telecom cables and systems.
