The celebrations for Pirelli’s 80th year anniversary in Brazil continue.

The Italian flag flies high above the ship that began this internet journey. A tyre narrator welcomes visitors and accompanies them throughout the years in the places built by Pirelli, while sound effects and music recall the most significant events, along with a video and multimedia material that describe the most important stages of the company. It is a young and dynamic description of a company that has reached 80 years, but preserves the flavour and freshness of “being Brazilian in Brazil”.
A new long distance tyre for the local Egyptian market for personal transport for tourism was unveiled in Cairo on 2 July. In the presence of the managers of the largest fleets of tourist vehicles in Egypt, and the major distributors of tyres in the country, Pirelli presented the FH65, its new tyre with directional tread for steering axles that can guarantee longer life with maximum comfort and handling.
Compared to previous solutions, this new product has a more innovative structure in terms of both performance and safety. The tread is a product of the new dual layer technology that associates two types of mix: the outer layer favours wear and stress-resistance, while the low hysteresis inner layer reduces heat generation and helps the shoulder resist lacerations. A new tread that increases safety and improves driving comfort, elements that further recommend this tyre to tourism companies.
Pirelli Tyre is the top tyre manufacturer of 2008. This was the decision of the panel of international experts at the “Tyre Technology Awards for Innovation and Excellence”, announced every year at the Tyre Technology Expo, the most import exhibition dedicated to the tyre industry in the world. In particular, Pirelli was awarded the “Manufacture of Year” title, thanks to its research and development activities in innovative materials and ecological materials during 2008, which are also a consequence of its close partnership with research organisations and institutions..
The prize is, above all, an acknowledgement of the success of “iChange” the first zero emission supercar in history, developed jointly by Pirelli and Switzerland’s Rinspeed. A prototype that, in a few seconds, can change shape (and hence the name “iChange”) and adapt its aerodynamics to the number of passengers. And it is Pirelli tyres that push this revolutionary vehicle to reach 220 km per hour without using a drop of fuel, thanks to a 150 kW electric motor with a lithium battery. A further demonstration of how Pirelli intends to put its technology at the service of ecological products.
