Sustainability in Pirelli's history

With more than 140 years of industrial tradition and manufacturing experience with the most advanced technologies on an international scale, Pirelli has made a considerable contribution - within the bounds of its abilities and business responsibilities - to the development of products, technologies and management instruments that promote sustainable industrial development, while always pro-actively interacting with the socio-cultural context in which it operated.

Proud of the results achieved so far, Pirelli wishes to respond promptly to the increasing need of communication and discloses the information regarding its sustainability commitment and the company's results in terms of sustainable performance, in light of the ever-growing attention paid by investors to socially responsible companies.

High performance tyre manufacturing in the second Pirelli factory in China incorporated Social Responsibility from the start. Pirelli Tyre starts a campaign to spread awareness of CSR issues among its employees in China, promoting initiatives on intercultural integration and work-life balance as recreational events and trips, and guaranteeing free vaccination for all its workers.

Pirelli is one of the 150 international companies who signed up to the "Bali Communiquè" at the climate change conference organised by the United Nations.

The Group's strong focus on sustainability produced concrete results in the internal communication project to introduce new CSR clausesclauses in the Scouting and Vendor Rating evaluations used in the Tyre Sector.

Pirelli is a leader in the "Autoparts and Tyres" Sector, according to the Dow Jones sustainability index, and confirmed by the the FTSE4Good sustainability index. The second Sustainability Report was published in the Financial Reports for the year ending 31 December.
