Pirelli: 25 mln euros contract in Singapore

  • PIRELLI AWARDED A 25 MILION CONTRACT FOR HIGH
    VOLTAGE ENERGY CABLES AND SYSTEMS IN SINGAPORE
  • COUNTRY’S POWER TRANSMISSION NETWORK WILL BE
    REINFORCED

Milan, 1 March 2005 - Pirelli Energy Cables and
Systems
today announced that its subsidiary Comergy
Limited has been chosen by the Singaporean power utility
SP PowerAssets Ltd. , a
subsidiary of Singapore Power , to supply and
install 400kV PPL oil filled power cables, auxiliary cables
and accessories
which are to reinforce the power
transmission network within the country.

The contract, which is worth some 25
million,
is the second 400kV contract awarded to Comergy
within the last year and confirms Pirelli worldwide leadership in
power transmission cable systems . Under the terms
of the contract, Comergy will supply and install the 400kV cables
for SP PowerAssets Ltd to form part of the strengthening of the
network in the south west of the city state. The project includes
for the cables to be installed within an undersea tunnel and
Comergy have been awarded a separate contract by SP Power Assets
Ltd to construct this tunnel.

Two Pirelli plants, one in Eastleigh and the other in Bishopstoke,
both located in the United Kingdom , will manufacture the 400kV
power cables and power cable accessories in line with the
customer’s requirements, whilst Pirelli plants in Turkey and
Indonesia will be supplying the auxiliary cables.
