Riccardo Muti from Moscow: a Virtual Concert, a Real Success

Milan, 27 July 2000 – ” Among the highest and truly
universal compositions, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is the one which
better symbolizes the people-binding power of music” . Maestro
Riccardo Muti’s comment on the ” Concert for Peace” conducted from
the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow on July 24th summarizes
the deep emotion conveyed by this unique musical experience. The
success of the event was marked by a 10 minutes-long round of
applause from the public of the Bolshoi Theatre (over 2,000, with
all tickets sold out) and by the access statistics to the special
page published on this site (over 42,000 contacts and more than
1,000 full audio/video streaming sessions).

The performance of the ” Teatro alla Scala” and the Bolshoi
Orchestras and Choirs has thus magnificently closed the Ravenna
Festival ” per le Vie dell’Amicizia” , the annual rendezvous
dedicated to peace and twinship among cities around the World. The
magic emotions of this successful peace itinerary will flow again
in July 2001, from Istambul and Armenia.
