FTSE4GOOD: PIRELLI SCORE IS 100/100

Pirelli is once again confirmed as the only Italian company in the Automobile&Parts sector to be included in the FTSE4Good Index.



The six monthly revision conducted by the independent agency EIRIS has reconfirmed Pirelli in the share indices for responsible investment of the London Stock Exchange FTSE4Good (FTSE Global and FTSE4Good Europe) with a score of 100 points out of 100, a further increase on the 99 points of March 2012 and the 98 of September 2011. Pirelli, which has been part of the FTSE4Good indices since 2002, has also been reconfirmed as the only Italian company in the Automobile&Parts sector to be included in the indices.


The FTSE4Good indices only include those companies which, on the basis of an independent evaluation conducted by the British agency EIRIS, respond to the stringent criteria of sustainable economic, social and environmental performance.


As well as other company characteristics, the evaluation includes the sustainable management of the supply chain, the regulations and instruments adopted for corporate governance, environmental management and performance as well as the policies put into effect and results achieved in the area of relations with each of its stakeholders.

ONE MORE TIME: PIRELLI IS LEADER IN THE DOW JONES SUSTAINABILITY INDEX

Pirelli, for the sixth consecutive year, was named world leader in the  Autoparts and Tyres sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Europe indices, with a score of 86 points compared with a sector average score of 53. The results of Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) assessment 2012 were announced on September 13th by SAM, the Swiss investment boutique focused on sustainability investing,  and by the S&P Dow Jones Indices.

A company’s performance is assessed on the basis of three elements – economic, environmental and social – by which the concept of sustainability is measured.

The quantitative and qualitative indicators of tangibile and intangibile performance regard corporate governance, processes of innovation, reporting and management of environmental systems, responsible product management, capacity for emissions reductions and environmental consumption, development and management of human capital, commitment towards the community, health and safety in the work place, sustainable management of the supply chain, effectiveness of dialogue with all stakeholders of relevance to the companies analyzed.

Pirelli P1 wins the tyre sector’s most coveted recognition in China

On 2 August in  Shanghai, the magazine Motor Trend bestowed on our Cinturato P1 the  ‘2012 Environmentally Friendly Tyre of China’ title,  attributing to the tyre totally unique characteristics of efficiency and sustainability.

During voting, issues were examined such as how the tyre can carry out an important role in reducing harmful emissions and how the tyre manufacturers can optimise their ethical and social responsibility practices to best help a ‘sustainable circulation’ of traffic.
