PIRELLI TYRE WINS THE '2009 NATIONAL AWARD FOR INNOVATION"

Tronchetti and Italian President Giorgio NapolitanoFor the strong contribution of innovation to the  business results, achieved through the integration of concepts and instruments of innovation into the daily activities of the personnel of all levels of the organisation”, Pirelli Tyre has won the 2009 ‘Companies for Innovation’ award as part of the ’2009 National Award for Innovation’ promoted by Confindustria.
For the points achieved and “for the dynamic and integrated innovation used as a lever for the involvement of the whole company, with a view to ensuring the growth and competitiveness at an international level”, Pirelli Tyre won the ‘Award of Awards’, together with other companies that distinguished themselves in the various selected national awards schemes.
The award, which has only been open to large companies from  this year, was recognised among the prizes within the framework of the ‘Award of Awards’, instituted in 2008 by the office of the Prime Minister to enhance the best capacity for innovation by companies, universities, administrations, institutions or single creators.
The awards ceremony took place yesterday afternoon in Rome at the Palazzo del Quirinale, where the chairman of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera received the ’2009 National Award for Innovation’ from the Italian head of state, President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano.

IN U.K. THE TYRE OF THE YEAR 2009 IS PIRELLI P ZERO

Catherine Kirk, Trade & Consumer Marketing Manager Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd, receives the Auto Express Tyre of the Year Award 2009Pirelli triumphs in UK. The P Zero™ has beaten three other competitor brands to win the Auto Express Tyre of the Year Award for 2009.
Comprising several disciplines, including braking and handling in the wet and dry, aquaplaning, rolling resistance and price, the P Zero™ performed exceptionally well, resulting in Pirelli being voted the overall winner.
Auto Express commented: “Designing tyres is all about trading off performance in one area for a gain in another However, Pirelli has certainly hit on a winning compromise here, as the P Zero™ starred not only in the wet, but also in the dry. It topped the times on both handling tracks, plus got the honours in curved aquaplaning. No wonder it inspires confidence when the heavens open. PIRELLI AMONG THE WORLD BIGGEST IN THE RETAIL SECTOR

DELOITTEPirelli is the first Italian corporation in the classification of ‘Global Powers of Consumer Products’, the annual list of the 250 principal producers of consumer goods in the world compiled by Deloitte, one of the planet’s biggest companies of consultancy and review services.

In the 2009 edition, drawn up on the basis of the 2007 fiscal year, Pirelli moves up from 108th to 86th place, followed by Ferrero (100th), Barilla (123rd), Parmalat (129th), Indesit Company (144th) and Cremonini (207th).

The research by Deloitte has become essential reading for those who operate in, and follow, the evolution of the retail market. This year, the classification is dominated by electronics, with South Korea’s Samsung Electronics having become the biggest production company in the world, followed by Hewlett-Packard and Nestlé.
