Pirelli Web scales the world classifications

We received a number of awards for our digital communications: here’s the first ‘balance sheet’

Internet site, mobile, social media, applications: we can already summarise the recognition and optimum results obtained this year in the area of digital communications.

In the United States, the Pirelli & C. web site took first place in the prestigious Web Marketing Association (WMA) WebAwards, which the organisation defined an “Excellent Site” according to the standards of the New Media Awards title, part of  a Columbia University research project.

And Pirelli was a finalist as one of the first three IR sites in the “Best web site in the IR classification”. The presentation ceremony took place at the Nasdaq headquarters in New York.

In Europe, the Pirelli & C. web site came third in the 2012 Digital Communications Awards, the top European recognition in PR and Communications by the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. In that case, too, Pirelli competed against the best European entries before a jury of 30 experts in the field.

So we are the recipients of awards and ever more digital in strategic communications towards our international stakeholders.

Meanwhile, we await the result of the evaluation of our Corporate iPad App from SMAU Mobile Apps 4 Business Awards, an event organised by the Milan Polytechnic for new tablet and business applications.

The FTSE4Good indices only include those companies which, on the basis of an independent evaluation conducted by the British agency EIRIS, respond to the stringent criteria of sustainable economic, social and environmental performance.

As well as other company characteristics, the evaluation includes the sustainable management of the supply chain, the regulations and instruments adopted for corporate governance, environmental management and performance as well as the policies put into effect and results achieved in the area of relations with each of its stakeholders.

The double A makes its truck debut

Neverending™ Energy™: the new line of ST:01™ tyres in the European market

It’s time for new arrivals from Pirelli Truck.

The ST:01™ Neverending™ Energy™, our tyre developed specifically to equip trailers and semi-trailers, has taken its place in the European market.

A debut that has already attracted its first success, given that it is the first Pirelli range to acquire the double class A of the European Label for its rolling resistance, and wet grip.

Generating fewer emissions, the ST:01™ Neverending™ Energy™ line combines safety with energy saving, while maintaining optimum performance in terms of mileage and wear rate, which are typical of a truck tyre.

These are the strong points of the ST:01™ Neverending™ Energy™:

-         An innovative tread pattern

-         A bi-strata technology tread compound with a high silica content, which reduces heat generation and, therefore, rolling resistance as well as ensuring greater resistance to cuts and provides a higher mileage.

-         The tyre’s profile, geometry of its sidewalls and beads are new.

By the end of 2012, the first size of the new ST:01™ Neverending™ Energy™ (385/65 R 22.5) will go on sale and the 385/55 R 22.5 will become available in January.

An extremely important result, which is in line with Pirelli’s key strategy of providing ever greater driving safety together with high quality and innovation.
