Pirelli confirmed in FTSE4Good Indices with rating 99/100

The March 2012 revision of the Financial Times FTSE4Good share indices for responsible investment conducted by the independent EIRIS agency has given Pirelli 99 points out of 100, yet another step up on the 97 points of March 2011.

Pirelli, which has been in the FTSE4Good indices since 2002, has also been reconfirmed as the only Italian company in the Automobile&Parts sector to feature in the indices.

The FTSE4Good indices only include companies which, on the basis of independent evaluations carried out by the British agency EIRIS, respond to the stringent criteria of sustainable economic, social and environmental performance. As well as other company characteristics, the assessment also takes into account sustainable management of the supply chain, the regulations and the instruments adopted for company governance, environmental management and performance as well as current policies and results achieved in the area of relations with all stakeholders.

WATER PROJECT – PIRELLI BRAZIL AWARDED

Our Campinas factory has won an award for its conservation and re-use of water

On World Water Day (22 March) Pirelli added yet another important piece to its sustainability mosaic, considered to be of increasing fundamental value.

That very Thursday, our Brazilian factory at Campinas won a prestigious award from the Sao Paolo Industrial Federation FIESP, recognising the commitment of our Brazilian colleagues to the treatment of water after its use in production.

It is the first time Pirelli Brazil has beaten off the stiff competition from various other major companies.

The project honoured with the award is the result of a gradual investment carried out over the last year and which has enabled the plant to re-use 100% of the water it treats internally. It has also ensured a 35% reduction in the volume of water taken from the River Capivari.

This important award is the result of a series of analyses and evaluations made by the public companies responsible for the management of water resources.

Pirelli Moto ‘Facebook Timeline’

The story of our successes on two wheels reconstructed on the social network through images from the Pirelli Foundation

The priceless images of the Pirelli Foundation have been used to re-build Pirelli Moto’s past and present successes on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/PirelliMoto) in its so-called Timeline.

The story ranges from the creation of our first motorcycle tyre, right through to the arrival of the Diablo, joining the Superbike World Championship and on to our recent victories in Motocross. A similar task has been completed for Metzeler (http://www.facebook.com/MetzelerItalia).

Pirelli Moto leafs through the pages of its history, enabling all Facebook users to edge a little closer to our brand by offering content of value.  It covers history, but also technology and innovation – part of our DNA – paying ever increasing attention to the potential of the social networks.
