WINTER ICECONTROL™ ARRIVES FOR EXTREME WEATHER

The new Pirelli car tyre developed especially for the Scandinavian markets and Russia, where the winters are extreme and motorists drive on ice and compacted snow, will become available in mid-2011.

Called Winter Icecontrol™, the tyre distinguishes itself by delivering outstanding performance under braking and handling on ice and in mud, traction and braking in the snow, its low rolling resistance and reduction of noise levels.

Almost 100 Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish clients tested the tyre at Alvsbyn in northern Sweden during four days of trials over 60 kilometres of ice and snow-covered roads in an event organised by Pirelli from 27 February until 1 March.

It was a launch that produced extremely positive results, so Winter Icecontrol™ will be on the roads next winter in Scandinavian cities, where this year drivers have been prohibited from using studded tyres for environmental reasons.

DIABLO SUPERCORSA, PROTAGONISTS AGAIN

The Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC will be the tyre used in the Stock 600 and Stock 1000 classes of the Campionato Italiano Velocità – CIV (Italian Speed Championship) starting from this year. After a successful season as exclusive tyre supplier to the Stock 1000 class of the CIV, Pirelli has been selected as the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana’s partner for the 2011and 2012 Stock 600 class and has been confirmed for the Stock 1000 class. Pirelli will supply the 90 CIV riders in 2011 and 2012 with Diablo Supercorsa SC tyres in two compounds for the front and rear and in three different 17-inch sizes.

THE BEST BALANCED TYRE

According to the motoring magazine Auto News, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre is ‘The Best Balanced Tyre of the Year’. The Cinturato P7, awarded  at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China, distinguished itself for its road holding, stability, optimised tread pattern for low noise generation and the low emission of carbon during its production process.
